Sedgwick County Zoo | Mini-Master Plan

The goal of creating a Mini-Master Plan for Sedgwick County Zoo was to identify quick win, high impact projects.  By examining opportunities to reinvigorate areas of the Zoo, improve the guest experience, and apply innovative advancements in animal welfare and technology, this Plan designates a set of projects realizable in less than 5 years for under $1 million.

Project Details

A variety of opportunities were identified in this Mini-Master Plan, all of which will directly improve animal welfare, the guest experience, revenue generation, and/or staff and operational experience. Examples include improving guest flow and wayfinding through North America, a new home for Aldabra giant tortoises, redesigning the interior of the Reptile & Amphibian Building, improvements to the flamingo breeding colony’s home, upgrades to aviaries, and much more. Each presents an opportunity to engage donors or integrate costs into the operational budget. As Sedgwick County Zoo implements these high return improvements identified in the Mini-Master Plan, guests will be impressed by a continually evolving and innovative Zoo experience.
