In this conversion, patient safety was our top design priority and became especially important when considering the existence of large amounts of glass in the existing building. Our design called for the replacement of all inpatient room windows with laminated glass windows and application of 3M safety film on other exterior windows to mitigate this risk.
GLMV designed this conversion and renovation of a two-story, 62,000-square-foot nursing home into a behavioral health hospital. The project also included new construction of a single-story, 7,000-square-foot outpatient building in Phoenix, Arizona. Social spaces, both interior and exterior, were also designed.

We worked with Via Christi to design a space which provides a higher level and broader range of service to its cancer patients, treating them as individuals with multifaceted needs in their treatment. Spaces are included for yoga, art, massage therapy, and laugh therapy, as well as a media room, family gathering rooms, sleep quarters, and laundry center.
