In January 2019, TESSERE Architecture began work with South Central Mental Health on the design and construction of a new facility to meet the growing demands of client and service needs. The new 10,000-square-foot, single-story building consolidated multiple Andover, Kansas office locations into one facility. The new facility is home to Acute Care, Medical and Clinical Services, Community Based Services (CBS), and Community Support Service for Adults (CSS).

The new facility provides upgraded security, allows for separation of different client types, solves sound attenuation issues, and provides additional rooms for large groups. Site improvements for parking, handicap stalls, and access points from the north road are also included.

Our team worked to include an effective circulation pattern for the entire facility. The updated building footprint provided an economical solution to allow the separation of clients while streamlining staffing requirements, providing maximum patient privacy and staff safety.

The new facility was officially opened to the public in October 2020.
