Sedgwick County Zoo | Front Entry & Administration Building

This new entrance, administrative building, and expanded gift shop at Sedgwick County Zoo in Wichita, KS improves guest experience by shortening wait times, providing more space to move around, and moving several zoo services under one roof  The multi-phase project included the new construction of a 22,000 SF two story entry/membership/administration building and the remodel of the 6,500 SF gift shop/kennel/first aid building.

Project Details

A small outdoor learning space was constructed to tie the Cargill Learning Center to the project. These facilities were in the heart of the Zoo’s infrastructure atop an extensive underground utility network that is decades old. Working in tandem with the Sedgwick County Zoo, our team is providing services to transform the Zoo into one of the largest multiday destinations in Kansas. To accomplish these goals, a master plan was created to include more activities in all areas of the zoo, increase the number of visitors, enhance guests’ interactions with the animals and focus on animal welfare. Construction was completed in 2021 and celebrated as part of the Zoo’s 50th anniversary.
