Freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Center

A group of seven physicians observed Wichita’s need to quickly accommodate ER patients, in which the idea of a new emergency department was born. The Freestanding Ambulatory Surgery Center for Kansas Medical Center in Andover, KS consisted of the construction of the new 13,774-square-foot standalone surgical center. The facility contains 6 operating rooms, 15 pre-operative and postoperative areas, including on-site sterile processing space.

Project Details

GLMV designed this 10,000-square-foot standalone emergency facility, and provided construction administration, interior design, landscape architecture, and project management to the build.  The facility includes ten exam rooms, diagnostics, and a trauma care center. The facility is designed to expand with four additional high-acuity rooms. Implementation of high-end finishes, open spaces, and large amounts of daylighting helped to create a more hospitality-centered environment.
