Master plan and terminal building improvements

We’ve helped to keep the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, formerly Wichita Mid-Continent Airport, flying high since our relationship first began three decades ago. Recently, TESSERE was associate architect for the new terminal building. The design was coordinated with an update of the airport’s master plan, required by the Federal Aviation Administration.

Project Details

The new terminal and concourse total about 273,400 square feet, and accommodates nearly 1,000,000 passenger departures per year. Gates are able to handle up to 10 large commercial aircraft. The design reflects flight and aviation themes with building material, products, and special exhibits incorporated in the design. The project also included demolition of the old terminal, access roads, and parking facilities.

Located on an active airport, this terminal needed to maintain it’s 24/7 operations during this project.
