Stucky Middle School

The flagship project for a recently passed bond issue, the school is 120,000 square feet on one floor. Included in the facility are an 800-seat auditorium, an 800-seat gymnasium, a cafeteria/commons space, administrative space, a media center, three classroom “houses,” and a fourth “house” consisting of exploratory environments. The exploratory spaces include art, technology, foreign language, etc. The design places the media center at one end of a large “Boulevard of Learning” that is the primary circulation and orientation element. The academic “houses” are placed along the “Boulevard” and are separated from each other by courtyard spaces. The cafeteria/commons space is at the terminus of the “Boulevard” at the end opposite the media center. The auditorium and gymnasium spaces are on either side of the commons space.
