Southwestern Medical Center

The plan called for a complete renovation of the 11,500-square-foot existing unit as well as construction of a 9,000-square-foot addition for the Emergency Department and Women’s Center. Staff and conference facilities were located in the area occupied by the current department. The hospital laboratory also expanded into a section of the old ER area. The new area includes expanded facilities for general lab storage, new lab functions, and blood bank. The Women’s Center is located on the second floor, and a new building addition was required within this area. The birthing center was completely demolished. This area includes three new LDR rooms with bathroom/toilets/showers, new Nursery Levels I and II, nurse station, soiled and clean utility. The existing patient rooms were updated with new interior finishes.
