Detroit Medical Center

The Hutzel Women’s Hospital integration into the Detroit Medical Center’s main campus provided a premiere women’s health center for the City of Detroit, and one of the top facilities of its type in the nation. The base project, involving the relocation of all clinical operations and collateral renovations within Harper Hospital, was $47 million. The new entrance and plaza work, with improvements to the existing infrastructure, added an additional $10 million. The relocation of the affected space provided an expression of soft sophisticated interior finishes to enhance the birthing event. This project not only creates a welcoming environment for the mother to be, but also successfully met the client goals of increasing the utilization of inpatient services while reducing overhead costs by sharing common facilities.
